Create Table on Live db?

Is there a way to add tables to a schema when other users are logged into the db? I have Progress 9.1c27.

Technically I think you can, as long as other users are not doing anything db-wise, but in that case they may as well be logged out. Also, making online changes with other users logged in is unsupported by Progress.

So you should log them out or upgrade.

You'll be warned if there is a problem anyway.

Actually, the above may be incorrect.

According to the KB, online schema changes are allowed with the above restrictions, but adding tables are not mentioned, so may not be possible.

Am I gathering that Progres 10 may allow table creations in a db that is online? That would be great news as we are getting started on an upgrade to the vertical that uses Progress, and part of that upgrade is going to v10.

Yes, but I think it is a later version of 10.

Ok. I've just connected to DB twice at same time in 9.1D through Appbuilder (no other db access), and have added and deleted a table.

But really you want to log everyone out. :blush:

Ok folks. Bottom line is 9.x will not allow what I want to do, but the Progress OpenEdge 10.1A I have in-hand and will be upgrading to soon (30 days) will.
