Does anyone know of the product Net Objects ( it's a Web Authoring Tool).
and how well it co-exists with Webspeed 3.0 B ? and either helps or hinders
the development of transaction focused Websites?

TIA

As with any authoring tool let it build the HTML and then you'll need to
build the Speedscript and JavaScript. I think NetObjects is similar to
FrontPage in that a lot of files are created to track the web changes (table
of content files, images, cascading style sheets, etc). When you publish
using the tool (instead of using FTP or a direct save) be sure that it puts
your HTML/Speedscript files in the proper directory for compiling.

Kevin,

I've used netobjects to design quick and dirty demo's using ESS, whoever all
THE ESS was preformed outside of netobjects. It is possible to code inside
the application however the learning curve is steep and netobjects produces
very dirty HTML.

Good Luck,

I have used NetObjects extensively for smaller sites or intranets. It does nothing in the way of automating webspeed development. You can get components for it that do ASP, CFM and javabean connectivity.

I would not recommend NOF for a webspeed developer because it requires the staging of html. IF you ever need to reimport html etc it can mar the speedscript code and cause lots of errors when you compile.

You could use NOF to quickly build your site and layout, stage the html and then script and do all your compiling. But once you finish your web site. if you need to edit the html, I would not advise importing it back into NOF, rather use notepad.

I suggets for an awesome html editor get Macromedia Dreamweaver. It wont screw your code and you have a visual toool for building and doing the layout of your site.

We use Macromedia's Dreamweaver for designing our sites as well. It won't screw up any WebSpeed code and it is a great development and design tool. There is a free eval available at http://www.macromedia.com/
