An opportunity exists for a self-motivated, innovative, goal-oriented
individual to be a software engineer in the application development and
application maintenance of a Progress application system within a life
insurance company.

Responsibilities:

* Software design, construction and test based on business
requirements specifications
* Analyze impact of functional changes to the system
* Research and evaluation of application problems
* Work as part of an application development team
* Communicate with business partners and other IT associates
* Handle other support activities that are necessary to ensure
stable production systems
* Execute design and construction activities adhering to the
CMM Level 2 Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
* Participate in developing software engineering guidelines,
procedures and techniques to assist the organization to evolve
to CMM Level 3.

Required Qualifications:

* Proven 2+ years experience in Progress Version 6/7/8/9
implementations.
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or
MIS or equivalent.
* Required Technical background in UNIX, NT/2000 and Progress.
* Ability to learn quickly and ability to work well under pressure.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to develop realistic estimates, establish realistic
schedules and meet deadlines.

Desired Qualifications:

* Background in Insurance Industry and experience in life insurance
systems.
* Experience with McCamish software.
* Experience in CMM and SDLC.

My Name is Doug Rogers. I am a Progress programmer with 16 years of experience (mostly character based starting with version 5 all the way up through version 9) with many types of systems. Among them are patient accounting, manufacturing (Syman), sales and distribution (Pepsi), and travel (Costa Cruise lines - TTG) systems. Until recently I was working a contract job at Costa Cruise Lines. Due to the slump in the cruise industry after September 11th they could not afford to keep me on, so my contract ended August 30, 2002. I would appreciate your kind consideration of my resume. It will give you a more detailed look at the projects and responsibilities I have had and the different operating systems I have worked on. I am looking to get out of contract work so a full time position would be great.

My salary requirements are between 55,000 - 62,000 per year.
