After-imaging isn't just a "best practice". It is a very, very basic data integrity requirement. Deploying production systems without after-imaging isn't just lazy. It borders on malpractice. They days when people can realistically "re-key" a lost day of transactions are long gone. Sure, there may be some very rare exceptions. But well over 99% of production deployments should have after-imaging enabled.
