String Processing (Finding a character, trimming a string)

Thanks, everybody! And I'm one of those people that tamhas refers to--I always use assign.

String Processing (Finding a character, trimming a string)

I'm just going to be honest--I'm wiped from a big upgrade this weekend and I'm hoping someone will do a little part of my job for me. The upgrade took a value in a field and appended a huge string to the end of it. And apparently our assistant controller uses that field, so his report is now...

    -aistall...Ancient?

Haven't been here in a while...I was doing a little research on aistall and found this old thread: http://www.progresstalk.com/showthread.php?114322-reg-aistall-and-L Tom says that aistall is an ancient parameter and there's no need to run it anymore after version 8. I've had consultants...

"Last Day of the Month" and Date-to-Char Formatting

That would work for the last day of the previous month (assuming I run this on the first on the month, which, on a scheduler, shouldn't be a problem). I still need to get the last day of the current month one year previous, though.

"Last Day of the Month" and Date-to-Char Formatting

The part that makes it difficult (for me) to schedule is that I need to calculate those two specific dates--the end of the previous month (04-30-10), and the end of the current month, one year previous (05-31-09). These changes every month--on June 1, I'll need to plug in 05-31-10 and 06-30-09...

"Last Day of the Month" and Date-to-Char Formatting

I've got a process that I run manually right now on the first of every month. Right now I feed it two dates--the last day of the previous month, and the last day of the current month one year earlier. I have to format it with dashes between each segment, and a two digit year. Here's what I...

How is -Ma determined...and is it trustworthy?

I pulled the out of the box RH 5 services file into Excel this morning and totaled the number of unused ports. Between 1025 and 4000 there are only 200 open ports. Between 1025 and 2000 there are only 41 (and it's possible that there are a couple of things already on the server using some...

How is -Ma determined...and is it trustworthy?

Well, like I've said before--the consultant is an Infor MA, so if they piss off Infor, they lose their bread and butter. Infor isn't telling me to not talk to the consultant...the consultant is telling me he can't talk to me. I'm setting it in conmgr.properties (the only way I know how) using...

How is -Ma determined...and is it trustworthy?

Wow, compared to the services file in RH4, the file in RH5 is freakin' massive. I wouldn't be surprised if there were only 26 open ports in the default range. Unfortunately, setting a high range doesn't work; the 50000 - 51000 range is actually wide open in the services file, but if I put that...

How is -Ma determined...and is it trustworthy?

One more tidbit. I found some monitoring code someone shared here and fit it to my setup so I could fire off multiple connections to the database easily. With the settings above, I'm topping out at 78 remote connections to the database. I can open a connection on the database server directly...

How is -Ma determined...and is it trustworthy?

Having a heck of a time getting the section of the .lg file to post...I'll keep trying but if there's a value I can pull individually, don't hesitate to ask. [configuration.nxt.defaultconfiguration] afterimageprocess=true afterimagestall=true asynchronouspagewriters=7...

How is -Ma determined...and is it trustworthy?

This weekend was supposed to be the crowning jewel in my series of system upgrades over the past two months. I migrated our SX.Enterprise database (and character code and appserver code) to a shiny new VM running Redhat AS5 64bit. The new server is running OE 10.1C (64bit); old server is...

    PDF Conversion

Looks like someone at Infor has listened to me on this one--apparently 6.0.040 removes the external PDF converter and builds it into the report manager code.

What is Infor trying to pull (software audit)

This probably isn't a "Database Admin" question, but I couldn't think of a better place to put it. Anyway, I've got someone from Infor (*shudder*), out of their UK office, asking me to fill out a document for a software audit. What has me a little confused is that, at least as of yet, they...

How does an online backup work

This has been one of those stupid questions keeping me awake at night. And while every DBMS that supports online backups probably works the same way, the smartest DBMS people I know are here. :) Anyway, when I run an online backup of our ERP system database, what is really getting backed up...
