Report Builder error - character field no longer in table

Hello friends,
I'm getting the following error when I open a report in report builder:
Character field '?_Dref2' is no longer in table 'Forms-mailed'.

This started suddenly, and had been working properly for several years. We are running Progress 11 and use the report builder engine to run our old reports. However, occasionally we need to edit an old report so we pull up report builder and make the edits. Last week, we started to get that error on all reports with the Dref2 field. I double checked and the field IS in the table. It gives this error for every table and its problematic because Dref2 is our main indexing and joining field.

Nope, the field name is just Dref2. However, when I try to add the field back in from the Report builder drop down of fields, all others are listed normally, but it does have the ?_ in front of the Dref2 field

That sounds like you have corrupted data feeding that drop down.

Unfortunately I know nothing about Report Builder and how it is configured so that's about all that I can say.

Is Report Builder available in OpenEdge 10, 11 ? indicates that reports can only be edited with Progress 9, does that no longer apply?

I.e., editing with too high a version might corrupt the file?
