Progress is excited to be the newest member of the Node.js Foundation.

On June 16, 2015, the Node.js Foundation announced its new governance policies for both technical and business guidance. Along with this announcement came the exciting news that Progress has joined the foundation. Being a part of the Node.js Foundation will give Progress the opportunity to help drive this vibrant and active community. Over the last year, we have doubled down on our investment in JavaScript and Node.js with the acquisitions of Modulus and Telerik in 2014.

What is Node.js?

Node.js is used today by a massive amount of organizations in countries around the world. It is downloaded more than two million times every month. Node.js is the runtime of choice for high-performance, low latency applications, powering everything from enterprise applications to robots, API engines to cloud stacks, IoT and mobile websites. Enterprise adoption of Node.js has included a diverse set of companies such as Walmart, Yahoo, PayPal and Fidelity Investments.

The Node.js Foundation will help truly build a long-term solution for the governance and guidance of the Node.js project. The new structure introduces a Technical Steering Committee (TSC), which will help make mutually beneficial decisions quickly. The formation of this foundation is made possible by the backing of some the largest tech companies in the world, including trusted names like Microsoft, PayPal, Intel and IBM.

We’re happy to be part of this initiative, and look forward to contributing to its long-term success.
