Johnston Paper is seeking a seasoned Business Analyst / Progress programmer for a privately owned upstate New York distribution company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
· Analyzes department's needs for programming. Designs new or modifies existing programs using the Progress programming language and creates documentation to implement the system. Full life cycle development of programs and systems enhancements based on company specifications.
· Strong background in relational database design and concepts
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills
· Demonstrate the ability to consistently meet or exceed assigned targets and deadlines
· Research, analysis, design, code, test, support for existing and new software modules
· Apply department standards for design and code
· Suggest program and process improvements
· Measure and verify code performance and scalability
· Interface with business leaders in the early development of specifications and requirements
· Provide regular project status reports to manager
Education / Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field or equivalent experience
· 3+ years experience designing and developing in Progress technologies
· UNIX, NT,
· Unix scripting
·
Preferred but not required:
* Progress AppServers and NameServers
* Open Edge 10
* Webspeed
