Hi,
I need some help and advice what are all the steps of enabling Progress DB's failover.
Here are the conditions:
1. Two HP servers with shared disk storage array
2. Windows 2000 Advanced Server on both machines (with clustering support)
3. Progress 9.1C (DB server, Webspeed transaction server and AppServer)
I have little knowledge about setting up failover of Progress DB:
1. I know that installations and configurations of Progress server products must be indentical on both machines.
2. I know that all progress servers must be started on the one machine (let's say the first server)
3. I know that I have to write failover scripts to start the DBs on the second server in case of failover.
4. I also know that in case of failover users have to reconnect to DB.
Questions:
Is this enough to start only Progress Admin Service on the second machine in case of failover? (DBs, WebSpeed brokers and AppServer brokers are 'autostart').
And if my clients use the -H parameter to connect with first host, in case of failover how they will connect to the second host (wich has different IP address)? Do I have to change somehow the .pf files, which I use for connection? (they are located on the server).
Are there any other things that I miss?
Thanks in advance!
