@ornery man: of course you're hosed if the SAN is down or your computer dies !!! recovery isn't just restoring backups and rolling forward your ai logs. you have to fix what's broken if there is a hardware failure. btw: i have a small disk array for storing backups and other stuff. wanting to be prepared for the inevitable disk failure, i had spare drives ready. after a few years the array failed. power supply. no spare.
