Does anyone have any idea / calculation to work out how long a dump and reload will take?

We've got a 7.6gb database, dumps been running for 3 hours and still going.

Im here till its all loaded back up and working again so i need to estimate roughly how much longer it could take.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

It can depend on what kind of drives your running on. We did a test dump and reload of our 27G database running off of ATA drives and it took about 36 hours. When we moved to the fiber drives for our production dump and reload it only took 12.

Depending on what platform you are running on, you can put together a quick script to monitor your proutil processes. Once the processes disapear, send out a page. This way you don't have to monitor it all the time.

I know this thread is stale, but I'd love to see the script you use do the dump, reload, monitor, and send out that page. I'm sure it would be useful to everyone.
