Database is listening on 127.0.0.1

Hi!

I am trying to connect to Progress 9.1D thru ODBC connection. When I activate a database (sports) on port (port_num), it is not listening to 0.0.0.0 or at least to its own ip address. It always listens to 127.0.0.1 and therefore connection thru ODBC/System DSN is not possible giving the error "error in network daemon".

progress installation type - complete
OS is windows 2000 server
Startup Parameter is -N tcp -S port_num
services file has an entry - port_num xxxxx/tcp
hosts file has entry on machine's own ip address

Thanks.

Testing ODBC on Sports

Dit the same thing this afternoon. No problem at all. Use as database string the full qualifier i.e. -db <dbname> -H <hostname> -S servicename -N tcp

I used -db sports -H localhost -S 7400 -N tcp

Worked fine overhere.

Best regards,

Wilco

just would like to mention that 127.0.0.1 is the Local IP address of the computer and NOT the port number. The port number has to be given in your Services file (in your windows\system directory)
