Incremental backup is more efficient to restore data than using transaction logs (after images) in general.
The main reason for this is that:
- incremental backups stores just changed blocks

While transaction logs stores information about how all the blocks become changed.
- It can be the same block, that are being changed over - and - over again.
- It also have information about transactions which are not commited, so it will change this data again, and later rollback the information because of it was never commited.

On the other hand incremental backup/restore does not support "point in time" or "until trx #X" recovery scenarios.
