1099-MISC Printing

Just when you think you may have your printing problems resolved, and you
have successfully printed 1099's(which by the way, we have not completed yet
because we haven't found the right printer setting combination), then you
run into the problem that the mag-media file does NOT conform to the IRS
requirements. Two major issues related to the QAD created file itself. The
IRS states that each record must be a standard 750 characters, and yet when
we run the file its only about 418. Then the IRS requires the date format to
be in a 4 digit format, NOT 2 like the QAD file has created! What is wrong
with QAD that they can not conform to standards set forth by the IRS?
Especially when you consider all the concerns stemming around Y2K and
utilizing a four digit format verses a 2 digit format for the year. Has
anyone gotten this far in the process, and is there a way to correct this?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I may can help you with the 1099 printing. I reviewed the QAD
solution publisher and seen their response to my opportunity of the
forms not lining up. Funny, the same printer setup for 1099's on my
last version did fine. Now it doesn't??? Oh well. The QAD program
seemed to print one line extra for each form, therefore, it was
crawling right off the page. The output to this program is a stream,
so the page length has no bearing. If this is your problem, here is a
solution. In the Progress editor, open the 1099 form printing program
(ap1099pt.p). Find the line after the address/phone number (before
the company tax id) that says put stream prt "" skip(1 + I). I took
the 1 + out. It works now. Lined up perfectly.

Hope this helps. We do not have do the 1099 mag tape, so I cannot
help you there.
