How Can A Progress 10.2a Database Be Replicated To Sql Server?

The organization uses the ERP system Epicor 9 with a Progress 10.2a database and needs to replicate the ERP Progress data to a SQL Server (any version) database for reporting. We would like the replication to be as near to real-time as possible. What are some possible solutions to this situation? Thank you.

How come no one ever asks "how do we migrate from MySQL/Oracle to Progress"? May be this is a discussion for another day.

IMVHO - in my very humble opinion: Most likely nobody that runs MySQL/Oracle has ever heard of Progress. And, of those who might have, most deem it not relevant. Personally, I have a very bleak outlook onto Progress' future. Don't get me wrong, I think OpenEdge is an excellent product but whoever I speak to about Progress outside of the Progress community ( which is almost everybody I meet ) thinks that it has died back in the '90s the same way Ingress did.

Try an experiment with "outsiders"... Ask them to list the names of (enterprise) technology companies and some of their products.

The list will be very short. And consist almost entirely of the companies that they happen to work with.

IOW it is actually normal and expected that nobody has ever heard of Progress. Or any of thousands of other tech companies with bright futures.

My two cents on this... if they are already knee deep in the SQL world then the OpenEdge database does not compare well with most of the major players. IF they have heard of it or been introduced to it. PSC doesn't need to catch up with Oracle or SQL Server, but they do need to at least catch up with Postgres/MySql and implement some of the more useful features from the big boys.

Don't get me wrong. OpenEdge still does some things very well and I think they still have a chance to greatly improve the DB. Some of which they are already working on. Some aren't on the drawing board yet.
