Word Blank Document

When I first launch Word and document 1 comes up, it contains a previous letter that my roomate had written but never saved (he claims!). I remembered about a year ago searching for "normal.dot" and renaming it, but in searching for this file, it is not found when searching.

Please, Word "guru" out there, HELP!! This is certainly not the end of the world, but it is very frustrating as the format of the document is way out of kilter from what I use.

Hi Mark,

You should check in Word, "Tools menu -> Options -> File Locations -> File types: User Templates or Workgroups templates".

PS:
I replicated the problem that you have and WinWord just got a fresh copy of the normal.dot template when I renamed it, just like you said. Thanks for the tip
