Sr. Progress Programmer Analyst With Management Potential:

Based in Schaumburg, IL, Qualtus Enterprises, Inc. is a professional

experience and exposure in the Chicagoland area, we have the networks
and the bandwidth to confidently provide most services.

One of our customers, a prestigious manufacturing company in Buffalo
Grove, IL has requested our assistance in locating a Sr. Progress
Programmer Analyst to support their Progress database.

Salary: Up to $80k
Experience: 5 or more years
Citizenship: U.S. citizens preferred

Skills:
Must be experienced with 4th generation coding, maintenance, upgrades,
problem management, problem reporting, application development and
application enhancement. Candidate will be working on all of these and
research. Customer currently uses version 9. Candidate needs to have
6.5 or higher experience. The work is interesting and it involves
multiple roles. As such, web skills are a plus, but not mandatory.
Webspeed is the Progress Web tool and they have some important data in
Progress that utilizes Webspeed. Experience with Java, C, HTML and
other web applications are desired, but not mandatory.

Their ERP provider is ECS, which uses Progress 4GL language. ECS is
specific to their industry. Additional desired skills include experience
with ERP packages, Unix and databases. This position will orchestrate
solutions, and perform analytical programming. Most of the changes are
not with the ERP package code. Instead, they develop add-ons.

Candidate must be a fast learner and understand the business process.
Will interact with end-users, vendors and ERP providers. Data must be
moved in and out. Interfaces need to be written. ECS provides the base
software and updates, but their support is limited. Experience with
Progress is key. The ERP package runs many of their critical business
operations.

Must understand system administration and experience here is a plus, but
not mandatory. Candidate does not need to be a system administrator,
just needs to know which resources to utilize, awareness as to what
resources are available and when to use them. Linux experience would be
a plus as they use Linux.

Does not need to be a DBA, but DBA experience, is a plus. Needs to
understand the role of a DBA and when to utilize that resource to solve
problems.

SoftSkills:
Soft skills are as important as hard skills and development skills.
Must be a team player. The focus will be on application development,
Analyst programming initially and down the road, the candidate may become
the Application Manager. (Perhaps 3-5 years out.) Candidate must be
skilled, possess a high aptitude and be ambitious. Must have good
leadership skills, insight, be creative, a good communicator, understand
complex issues and must work well with other people. Good interpersonal
abilities needed now.
