setting up desktop icons - newbie

Hi Everyone!

This is my first post, so i'm not too sure what to write, but hopefully you will be able to help me.

I have progress installed on my machine, windows xp, and i am trying to set up an icon to connect straight to the database, also on my machine. This may seem simple to some people, but i've never done this before. please help!
