Hi Expert,
Currently,we are using the mfg/pro connect via progress to oracle
database, which mean our back end database is oracle.
It's that possible to just using progress database and how to migrate
the oracle database back to progress ?
What are the limitation in the progress database as our current database size is 57G can porgress database able to support ?
Any others limitation in progress database ?

Thks for any values feedback.
:)

Moving away from Oracle? Wow, I've never heard that.

Anyway, you shouldn't have any issues going from Oracle to Progress with MFG/PRO as Progress is it's primary target DB.

As for DB size, create a multi-extent DB, apply some tuning and you will be off the to races. You'll probably even find that your app will perform better against a Progress DB (of course, that is just speculation but typically it is true).

Progress & oracle database

Thanks gcampbell for your reply,

Where can I get those info about progress database, I wonder
how much work need to be invlove for the migration.

It's that not so common using progress with oracle as backend ?
I not so sure as when I join the company already in this way, we are wondering using one lever (progress only) instead of two level (progess and oracle).

Thanks for any help. :) :awink:

You may want to check the QAD Tech Support website to see if they have any migration documents.

Or the Progress Knowledgebase.

Or if all else fails, you may want to get in touch with Scott Dulecki at Bravepoint. I believe he has extensive experience working with MFG/PRO installations .. specifically relating to archiving but that takes exceptional knowledge of the DB across multiple platforms.
