print pdf document (Progress 9 Windows XP)

Hello,
does anyone know how to print an existing pdf-Document?
The best thing would be for us to find a solution without installing Adobe on the PC. I only know from the 'shell execute - possibility'?

Kind regards

It works very well, but he said his document already exists.

Matthias, There are various software and hardware options that will do what you require, many of which involve converting to another format first (eg. word), but easiest and cheapest is Adobe reader - why do you not want to use it?

If you change your mind, here's an example from the pdfinc creator:

Like Lee has stated, why not install Adobe Reader?

What drawbacks are there in this? Wouldn't the user want the opportunity to view the document before printing?

That being said, if you want to bypass Reader or Adobe in general, I'd look into any PDF to Postscript (or PCL) converter. Then you can directly print the file to the printer .... Ghostscript is a good choice for this (and it's free).

Thanks

Hello Lee,

thank you for this information.
I think this will work fine, but I think I need the SDK - Kit from Adobe, before I can use Adobe as a com handle. So first I will get this.
With kind regards
Matthias

RE: Knowledge Base P22533

This method is NOT supported by Adobe and could be dropped at anytime.

And the other KBase expects that you have Acrobat Exchange (or a vill version of Adobe Professional) installed. The 'AcroExch' com won't work with regular Reader (or at least it didn't use to). That's why I used the DDE calls in WinPDFprint.w
