Output file destination when using Citrix

We're installing Syteoline 4.02 and have many clients connecting using Citrix.

What parameters should we be setting so that we can control where output files
are created. If we are using std Symix and want to output to file rather than
Printer then the user can key in the full path of a local drive
"C:\Symdata.....".

Custom programs that currently output to the default directory just dissapear
onto the Citrix server never to be seen again.

Suggestions much appreciated.

Citrix servers typically do not have a drive mapped to C:, it is more
commonly M:. Because the process is running on a different machine than the
client machine only the drive letters mapped on the server are recognized by
SyteLine. Hence, the only way to send output to a drive on a client's
machine would be to map that drive on the Citrix server, not something you
want to do. The alternative is to provide a public network drive that is
mapped on all machines on the network and direct file output to that drive.

You could also share the M: drive as C$

On the newer version of Citrix, Citrix does have the c drive and the client
has a drive such as v: When you are logged into Citrix go to my computer,
explore and it will show you C and then V usually has something like this.
V:(client c$). Therefore, to write to a client's hard drive you would
send the file to v:\etc.

I find the process of writing directly back to the users local drive
exceptionally slow (Citrix over internet / not local network). I find it
far faster to output a file to a directory on the Citrix box then call an
FTP client to send the file back over the net to the user. I find this to
be approx. 50% quicker.

On metaframe when it is installed is when the decision is made to name drives. Normaly the local drive on metaframe server is not C: this is automaticly mapped to the client when connected. this is one of the differences between Metaframe and just NT terminal server
