Hi,

I want to connect To MS SQL 2008 through progress 4gl . This i am doing via data administration . create data servers option .

But it says that the its for ms sql 2006 . and mine is 2008 version .

and it says use data server for ms sql .

How would I connect to MS SQL 2008 . I am using progress 9.1 E

Thanks in advanced

I am not a Progress data server specialist, but here goes ...

Progress 9 was introduced more than 10 years ago and is a now in a mature state for more than 3 years. That means there won't be any bug fixes or enhancements ever to this release of Progress - therefore I am not surprised that it won't work with MS SQL 2008.

First you need to check the product availability guide ( http://communities.progress.com/pcom/docs/DOC-32338 ) whether there is an OpenEdge version available that supports MS SQL 2008. If there is then you should upgrade. Otherwise you could still try the ODBC data server, but that's a least common denominator for all SQL databases and is not optimized for MS SQL.
