Progress DataDirect is proud to host the first ever Hackathon challenge featuring interoperability with OData at API World on Sept 10-11, which is the world’s largest API+Integration Hackathon. OData (Open Data Protocol) is an OASIS standard that defines a set of best practices for building and consuming RESTful APIs. DataDirect serves on the OData Technical Committee and promotes the adoption and advancement of all open standards for data access.
As noted by Dave Fontenot (Founder of Hackmatch and avid advocate of Hackathons), some of the most profitable ideas have come from the long, highly caffeinated days of hackathons. A few of these are GroupMe, a messaging application acquired by Skype for $50 million, as well as the Facebook “Like” button and Facebook chat.
What to Expect at Integrate 2016
We are very excited to see what will come of these exciting two days of innovation. Here are the official contest rules from the Integrate Hackathon home page.
You can come visit us at Booth 107 to refine your knowledge on open APIs and greenfield integration. In 2005 there were 105 open APIs, today there are more than 15,000. 40 new APIs are made public every week. We help you simplify integration by enabling you to expose a wide range of data sources with a single standard interface (REST or SQL).
Use Our Data Tools and Win
Progress DataDirect will offer developers participating at the Hackathon the opportunity to develop applications making the best use of standard interfaces, such as OData REST API, with voice input/natural language processing (Amazon Echo Alexa, Apple Siri, Microsoft Cortana, Google Home).
The participants will be using DataDirect Cloud and our soon to be released hybrid data solution to manage access and consumption of data by their apps. Those using Progress DataDirect tools will be up for a Progress Integrate 2016 prize package, valued at $7,500.
Progress DataDirect staff will be available during the Hackathon to coach participants in DataDirect Cloud and the new hybrid data solution. The company will also support any post-Hackathon deployment of prototypes that are developed there.
Hybrid Data Access for Cloud & On-Premise
Resident Rocket Data Scientist for Progress, Idaliz Baez, will speak at the conference, sharing her thoughts about connectivity as the new integration. She’ll also be unwrapping our upcoming hybrid data solution, termed “Project Mustang,” a lightweight embeddable data access service that will completely change the way applications access data.
