MTX lock duration is indeed affected by the IO subsystem but why? MTX latch can be locked during BI writes. But BIW does not seem to use MTX latch. Client's sessions do use MTX latch but in most cases they should not write to BI file. For our biggest customers MTX latch has the highest timeouts among all latches.
