Linux Locking Up During Probkup

Who out there is running PROGRESS on RedHat and Dell in a 7 X 24 environment. The point is, who is doing on-line backups. Activity in the database while the database is being backed up. Have you had any backup issues with the O/S locking up?

Progress 8.3c on Dell Power Edge 6400.
