Hi! (sorry for my english)

Is it possible to install Progress 9.1b on Windows 11?

(When I try it, only the Progress installer closes)

Thanks!

Progress 9.1B was released in 2000. That's 24 years ago, when Windows 98 and Windows 2000 were "cool", but Windows XP was still on the horizon, never mind Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11.

The lowest version certified by Progress for Windows 11 was Progress OpenEdge 11.7.15. OpenEdge 11.7.15 was released in June 2022.

Your experience seems to corroborate with the above.

Thanks Stefan.

We have installed Progress 9.1b on Windows 10 successfully.
Any suggestions why it doesn't show me any errors?

Thanks!

Lucky you!

Check the usual suspects:
- Windows event viewer
- install logs (with OpenEdge they are call oe*.log in c:\windows - no idea if they are created or what they are called when using 9.x)

Things usually do not just disappear. The logs may help identify the problem, but not give a solution.

Does "we have installed" mean that it actually works reliably.

In any case, it won't be supported.

You can try running Process Monitor during the installation. If there is a silent failure, e.g. accessing a registry entry or file, creating a service, spawning a process, you should see it there.

Did you ever get it installed?
If not, let me know, I have installed 9.1e on a Windows 11 machine plenty of times. A couple of tricks. Yes, not supported, yes, very old edition, but if you are needing it installed - it is possible. there is a process you have to kill to get the installation to complete. Help won't work either.
