Hardware requirements for Progress RDBMS

We are quoting to host a progress database with up to 1000 concurrent users - and plan to run on a Unix platform (Solaris 7/8 or Linux).

My question is, coming from an NT camp previously, what are the hardware requirments to run this number of users. Being unfamiliar with the Sun/Linux running Progress - I am clueless.

The application is called UltraSys, designed in the UK, it is a maintenance managment package. Previously I was comfortably running 40 concurrent users on NT4.0 (2 x PIII and 1Gb RAM)..

Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated,

Matt Murphy, London, UK

It depends on a few more things.... first which version of Progress are you going to be running? Also, will these be self-service clients (the client processes running on the database machine), or is this a client/server enviroment?

Hardware Performance

Thanks for the prompt reply,
We are running ver 9.1 - and it is client/server app.
We will be running the app on a Citrix Metaframe Server Farm, and publishing this app in an ASP scenario.

Many thanks, looking forward to your comments,
Matt
