Database Fail-over mechanisms

We are implementing a system using Progress 8.3 and I need some information on Database backup and recovery information. I downloaded the .PDF files from PROGRESS.COM and it seems to be for 9.x systems. Is there much of a difference between 8.x and 9.x in terms of database backup and recovery?

I need to be able to switch over to a backup database in seconds in the event of a failed system. Is this possible? Thanks.

As long as you do a Progress ( Probkup and Prorest) you will be in good shape. I have these running nightly backups and without any issues. You will want to make sure that you have a multiple file backup if you database gets in the 2 gig size. One of the limits.
