    If you are using Progress version 9 then you will have the merant driver ODBC driver bundled with it. All you need do is setup a DNS connection using the merant driver to connect to the progress database. You will then be able to access this from VB.

    I assume you have typed your services entry incorrectly as it states mat_dat not mat_data. I suggest that you check you do not have anything else running on port 6601. I would also double check that you can ping britanxt. In addition check that you only have the one services file.
