Progress 8.2C (UNIX) running Data Technical Research (DTR) - TMM (8:6.8)

Does anyone have any experience with DTR-TMM interfacing with Progress 8.2C on a DEC Tru64 platform? I'm looking to interpret the data and possibly extract it to Oracle. I have looked in the data dictionary and the schema, but I'm not able to make sense of this and our vendor is not even...

Progress (UNIX 8.2C) prostrct add problem :(

It seems that the filesize is at the limit. So that means it's irrecoverable? -rwxrwx--- 1 root system 2147483648 Apr 15 13:07 tmm10.d15 Also, an error that I get when I tried to start the database earlier is: There is no server for database <filename>. (1423) ** The server terminated...

Progress (UNIX 8.2C) prostrct add problem :(

Greetings! One of my databases has run out of space and I am trying to add an extent. This is my .lg before the crash: ... 13:07:36 Usr 29: bkioWrite: lseek error 22 on file 24 at -2147483648, file /p_dtr/p_dbs/tmm10.d15. (6081) 13:07:36 Usr 29: bkioWrite:Insufficient disk space...

Progress (UNIX 8.2C) Fails at Startup

Thanks everyone for your recommendations. Unfortunately, I have limited resources (ridiculous, I know) at the moment, and hope to eventually replace my backup scheme with something more solid. As a follow-up, I have come up with a script with functionality for both online and offline backups...

Progress (UNIX 8.2C) Fails at Startup

I was the only root user, and it wasn't me. I'm going with your conjecture. Thanks for the insight here. Can you tell I'm new at this? I would if the server had USB ports, but it's a DEC Alpha 4000.

Progress (UNIX 8.2C) Fails at Startup

The file exists, and from what I see in the backup scripts, there is no command which deletes this file. I am not sure if there is a reason why Progress is telling me it's missing... root:/ => ls -salF /p_dtr/p_dbs/tmm10.lk 1 -r--r--r-- 1 root system 38 Oct 26 01:08...

Progress (UNIX 8.2C) Fails at Startup

I found syntax for probkup in the 8.3C documentation. I want to do an online backup, but I'm concerned with using vdump (I'm on OSF1 V4.0 1229 alpha) and probkup to write to the tape drive. I don't have a lot of diskspace to spare, and it looks like I have quite a large amount of data. I need to...

Progress (UNIX 8.2C) Fails at Startup

I have inherited this system, so I do not know of a specific reason to do an offline backup. I have heard of online backups, but am not sure how to implement it. We don't have any documentation on this version of Progress, but I do have documentation for 8.3C... I don't know what had changed...

Progress (UNIX 8.2C) Fails at Startup

I have an offline backup script that runs at night, and for the past few days only, Progress has failed to start up normally after files have been copied to a backup folder. When I am notified, I am able to log into the system and then do a /progress/startup/start-all-cui which brings the system...

Root as dba? (Progress Enterprise DB 8.2C )

Do you mean that 8.2C also uses SQL89? For a binary dump, I was considering: proutil <dbname> -C dump. Would this not preserve the data? All the databases total to about 18 GB. I have sought contractors for this, including the original software developer, but am atttempting to minimize costs...

Root as dba? (Progress Enterprise DB 8.2C )

I tested this on the test database "sports" included in progress, and I still don't have access to the admin menu, even though root:system owns those files.
