What is the abbrevation DLC

Can any one let me know the abbrevation of DLC and the use. I understand that it is a enviornment variable. But what it contents?

Kindly help if someone knows this.

You must use the environment variable DLC to point to the OpenEdge (yet another name change!) installation, but it can point to any directory you wish. E.g., I normally install in directories by version such as /app/psc/10.1C.

Please look into the [Startup] portion of Progress.ini file
U can see DLC=D:\DLC101B. We might have different versions of progress in the same machine. So we map the DLC in INI file as follows. Progress will always look into INI file for propath. For OS path we have to change the environmental variables.

the language was called RDL, pronounced riddle, short for relational data language ... way back then.

and apparently some of the people that started the language previously worked on a previous 4GL called MIMS.
