There are known issues when installing OpenEdge 10.2B on Windows 7, 8 or 8.1: http://knowledgebase.progress.com/articles/Article/000049447?popup=true Support for newer Windows versions have been added in service packs but the problem is that you have to first install the original version which might give you error messages or even corrupt the registry. I think that Progress should create a new installation package for "OpenEdge 10.2B with Service Pack 08 " which installs on all supported Windows versions without problems. 10.2B is still used a lot and works fine (after possible problems during install) when you update it with the service pack.
