I can only second what Tamhas is saying.
Long time ago I used to work for Progress as a consultant and believe me, even as a consultant being sent out to customers to teach them the 4GL I didn't care much about scope ( buffer and transaction respectively ). It wasn't before I left Progress and had to design batch jobs that processed billions of records over night that I had to learn the hard way how to program for performance and concurrency. And, bear with me, the learning never stops although the ABL ( as it is called now ) my tempt you to think you know it all ...
