The New England Progress Users Group (aka NEPUG) is pleased to announce that on April 12th we will be hosting Getting Started with OpenEdge for .NET an all-day workshop led by Mike Fechner, Managing Director of Consultingwerk Ltd. Mike, based in Germany, has been working with Progress for over 15 years. He is well known to OpenEdge Advanced GUI developers as a very early adopter and an extremely active technology preview, beta program and online community participant.

Workshop participants will learn how to work with OpenEdge Architect and the Visual Designer; the basics of OO ABL as they apply to working with .NET; how the Advanced GUI integrates with existing code (including App Builder based applications) and how to take maximum advantage of this exciting new technology from Progress.

We may have a limited number of PCs available for on-site participants but you are strongly encouraged to bring your own laptop.

We will be using a pre-built image in the Amazon Cloud. Both on-site and remote participants will receive directions to access and test this image before-hand.

Please visit our event site for details and registration:

Thanks for your interest. Please sign up early as we have limited seats for the on site workshop. Once that is sold out, we will not be able to add more seats or re-deliver this event. This workshop represents a very cost effective vehicle for getting a jumpstart on these new technologies. We are very fortunate to have Mike delivering in person. If you have any interest in OE Architect, the OO ABL or the Advanced GUI, then you need to make your way to this workshop on April 12, 2010.

to "pimp your app". The talk covers techniques that can be used to
enhance the usability as well as the look and feel of an existing

discuss the requirements to fully leverage the power of the .NET UI in
the OpenEdge client

10:30 -11:30 Migration From App Builder to OEA

Having difficulties getting started with OpenEdge Architect? This
practical session will demonstrate how to move an AppBuilder based

In this session we will start working with the Visual Designer of
OpenEdge 10.2B and explore and complete a simplified sample of a data
entry screen built using the GUI for .NET and Infragistics Controls
(OpenEdge Ultra Controls).

3:30 - 4:30 Working With Embedded Windows

In this session we will use WinKitLE (light edition) - a free toolkit

Ribbon and replace a Progress Browse widget with an UltraGrid.
