Custom Utility in BG Queue

I wrote a custom utility for running in the background queue, and it works according to spec when run manually; and it used to run successfully in the queue - for a few days. Now what happens when it runs is that the queue process terminates, and the utility shows as "R"unning, but does not appear to have even started processing.

Any suggestions? Is there a FAQ somewhere about programming for the Syteline BG queue?
