Calling a PPTP/VPN DUN Connection

I have an application that uses Mabry Software's RAS/X ActiveX control to dial into a server via PPP, ftp data, and disconnect. I would like to be able to call a PPTP/VPN connection under XP's dial up networking from Progress. Are there any samples out there that will call a PPTP or Cisco VPN connection and test to see if the connection has been established before ftping, etc?
