Service providers Kingslake (UK) and Dialog Axiata (Sri Lanka) built the SmartApps.lk aPaaS using the Progress Rollbase RAD platform.

Kingslake’s developers had a vision: To leverage cloud computing to create a software platform that allows clients to rapidly create web and mobile applications at a low cost. After reviewing various options, it decided that Progress® Rollbase®, a rapid application development (RAD) tool that combines Platform as a Service (PaaS) with application hosting, would be the optimal platform on which to build the aPaaS product.

Kingslake needed to find a hosting partner, and it turned to Dialog Axiata PLC, the largest mobile telecommunications network in Sri Lanka. Together, Kingslake and Dialog developed SmartApps.lk. SmartApps enables users to create sophisticated web-based business applications quickly at a low-service fee for access and usage.

“Our clients can dive in with SmartApps.lk and quickly build effective, web-based software without the hassle and setup costs of infrastructure, software licensing and related maintenance,” said Dr. S. Dharmavasan, the founder and CEO of Kingslake. Innovators use SmartApps.lk to gain an edge over their competitors by speeding solutions to market, a business win in every sense.
